Fair Isle Knitting

This weekend at SAFF, I took a class called "Fair Isle Knitting", which was taught by Nancy Schroyer. She is an AMAZING teacher, and I learned so much! I wish I could sit and knit with her all day long for about a month. I would have a notepad in my hands, writing ideas, and a tape recorder taking down every word she says. I might even hire a photographer to capture her and her knitting. Maybe even a videographer. Ha!

Anyway, here is my feeble attempt at learning Fair Isle for the first time.

Woo Hoo! I finally finished knitting socks for Leah22b. She was a partipant in our Sockintine's Sock Swap (Knitting Help Forum) in February of this year, but she never received socks from her partner. So, I decided to make some socks for her.

Here they are on her feet! They fit! Yay!

SAFF 2007 was FUN!

I had a great time yesterday at SAFF (Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair) in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.

The yarn was GORGEOUS, and I enjoyed taking two knitting classes.

The first class was the "Oops Workshop", where I learn more about correcting mistakes in my knitting. I already knew how to do most of it, but it was still encouraging to work on it some more.

My last class was "Fair Isle Knitting" with Nancy Schroyer. She is an AMAZING instructor, and I learned so much! :) I'm really looking forward to diving into fair-isle knitting now. :D

Here are some photos I took at SAFF this year.

Fuzzy Baby Slippers

This morning, I finished making some cute little baby booties for one of my husband's co-workers. She is expecting a little boy soon. The booties are so cute!

I used the pattern "Oh Baby! Furry Booties" that is sold by an eBay seller called "Over the Rainbow Designs".

This link won't work forever, but here's where you can buy the pattern:

I didn't have to buy any yarn for the project. I just grabbed some leftover bits of eyelash yarn and a skein of white baby yarn, and got to work. Quick and easy! :D

I made a baby hat!

Last night, I finished another knitting project - a cute little baby hat.

It was fun to make, and only took a couple days, in the midst of my real life.
I used about half a skein of Berroco Lullaby yarn, and the "Ellen's Ruffled Hat" knitting pattern I found online.

Here's the pattern: http://www.touchinglittlelives.org/ellenhat.html">www.touchinglittlelives.org/ellenhat.html
