Here's the vintage poncho kit I won, filled with 100% wool yarn. Nice!
I will NOT be making the poncho. Blech! :P
Maybe I'll make a felted bag....or a blanket for charity. Who knows.....
Another auction I won was for 11 skeins of Plymouth Wildflower DK yarn. Very pretty, very soft, but also very STINKY! The person I won them from is a heavy smoker, so every skein smells like an ashtray.
So, today, I've been airing them out in the sunshine.....turning them over every 20 minutes or so. They're getting better.

I received some donated yarn that reeked of tobacco smoke. I put it in a net bag and hung it on my deck for over a week. It got better, but I can still smell a touch of smoke. I may try putting it in the sun this summer.
The pink sweater is beautiful, and the yarn is going to be fun to knit. I have a piles of wool sweaters in Space Bags in my garage. When it warms up, I will start frogging them for yarn.
Nancy, I got so frustrated. Usually my little sunshine trick works perfectly. But this particular batch of yarn must have been stored in the smoking room! Ha!
So, I put it all in a laundry net bag (just like you), and sprayed it with Febreze. Then, I tossed it in the dryer for about 10 minutes. Then, I put the bag outside in the sunshine again.
It's finally getting better! I'm just glad it's a washable cotton/acrylic blend. If it had been wool, I would have just had to keep putting it outside over and over again.
